Patrick Hammer Scuba Emporium Owner/Director PADI Course Director I have owned and operated dive stores since 1973. I presently own two PADI 5 Star IDC centers in the south suburbs of Chicago. Scuba Emporium is the name of my company. My two stores have pools in them and are state-approved vocational schools. I started diving in Florida as a young boy when we would go on family trips to Fort Lauderdale. In high school I was on the swim team and my coach let us scuba dive and assist him training divers. By the early 70's I was working in the dive industry with a local dive center. I was an assistant with them. The company Berry Scuba was one of the largest dive stores in the industry. We would teach over a thousand divers per year with our six stores. I was directly in charge of all training. By 1973 I bought into the company and was an owner in charge of training until we split up in 1980 and I started Scuba Emporium. During the 70's I spent almost every summer weekend at the local lakes training beginning divers through the instructor level. By 1978 I had a store in Atalnta, Georgia, and then by 1980 I opened one in Crystal River, Florida. Back then and to today I still am very active in training and still do well over 150 dives per year. I presently train instructors at my store as well as in Florida, Bonaire, Jamaica, Turks, and St. Lucia. See what PADI has to say about Pat.
